New Volkswagen Touareg to debut next month in Beijing, China

Volkswagen said that it will debut third-generation of the Touareg SUV on 23 March 2018 in Beijing, China.

The new SUV is expected to be sleeker than the previous generation.

It will include driving assistance systems along with digital ‘cockpits’ in its class. The company states that this new infotainment system with connectivity that makes it a driving internet node.

Though the automaker did not specify the vehicle’s engine, power and torque, it stated that the drive train, air suspension, rear-wheel steering and roll stabilization can ensure safe and dynamic driving experience.

The SUV is expected to be reportedly powered by V6 and V8 engines and a development of T-Prime concept’s petrol-electric plug-hybrid.

The interior of the vehicle is also expected to have gesture and voice control and could on par with Audi Q7.

Similar to its predecessors, the Touareg is also expected to adhere to standards of premium automotive class and its customers. Even with its size, the SUV is expected to be a five seater with overseas market .

Volkswagen is betting on the SUV C-segment, stating that it is one of the fastest growing segments in the global automotive markets and expects to double its volume by 2023 in China.

Initially, the Touareg was launched in 2002, for on-road and off-road and on-rally trails around the world.
