Toyota Incorporates Gentex’ Backup Camera Display In New Verso

ABR Staff Writer Published 18 June 2009

Toyota is offering Gentex’ Rear Camera Display (RCD) Mirror and base feature auto-dimming mirrors on its new Corolla Verso multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

The RCD Mirror contains a liquid crystal display (LCD) that works with a video camera mounted at the rear of the vehicle, to give a view directly behind the vehicle while backing up, said Gentex.

Enoch Jen, Senior Vice President, Gentex, said: This is the first vehicle built in Europe and designed specifically for the European market to incorporate our auto-dimming RCD Mirrors.

Gentex technology has been well received in Europe and having the RCD Mirror offered on a number of trim levels further demonstrates consumer interest for this new feature, he added.

Based in Michigan, Gentex develops, manufactures and markets interior and exterior automotive ancillary and parts.
