ABR Staff Writer Published 29 January 2018

Ram has introduced the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Edition, which delivers significant gains in fuel efficiency with eTorque mild hybrid system on second generation 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engines.

The eTorque combines belt-drive motor generator unit with 48-volt battery pack that enables start/stop function, short-term torque assist and brake energy regeneration.

The hybrid system adds up to 90 lb/ft of torque to the 3.6 liter engine and up to 130 lb/ft to the 5.7 liter engine.

Power generated from the engine is delivered to the wheels using TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmissions for improved efficiency with the use of control computers. All the models of the truck come with standard electronic locking rear differential is standard on 4x4 Off-road Package and Rebel.

The truck is claimed to have reduced 225 pounds of weight compared to its predecessors, while having a towing capability of 12,750 pounds.

Ram's new 1500 offers 4G WiFi hot spot, exclusive SiriusXM 360L with personalized listening experience, SiriusXM Guardian, five USB ports to link with Uconnect system and a 12-inch touchscreen that features split-screen capability for dual-application operation or full-screen single application operation.

Ram brand head and FCA group executive council member Mike Manley said: “The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn is a no-compromise luxury truck that delivers what buyers want most: strength, durability, technology and efficiency.

“Wherever you look, whatever you touch, the Laramie Longhorn is filled with more craftsman-like details, including wood surfaces and 100 percent full-grain leather seats, than any other truck in the segment.”

FCA claims that the new 2019 Ram 1500 has been hand-wrapped with 100% full-grain leather dashboard and southwestern-design-inspired door-panel and armrest coverings. The cabin has been embossed with alligator skin pattern leather covering surfaces including the center console, instrument panel, seats and door panel inserts.
